It’s been a while since you last heard from us, but rest assured that behind the scenes we have not been idle. After the latest projects in Rampur and Indrawati, the yearly monsoon break began. During the rainy season, which lasts until fall, it is not possible to reach remote locations, let alone work on projects.
In addition, our longtime manager in Nepal, Khemaj Puri, has decided to leave the foundation to pursue his own projects, such as the Twin Otters Foundation. We wish him all the best on his future path supporting underprivileged children in Nepal.
With Alisha Lamichhane, we have a new manager who has been part of our team for many years and has demonstrated her skills and commitment to L’Unique Foundation many times. We are also proud to welcome a woman as the new manager of our Nepal team – her leadership not only drives our work forward, but also helps normalize and strengthen the role of women in Nepal.
Following our projects in Dolpa and our recent trip to Kalikot, we realized the need to expand our operations to the tragically neglected regions of West Nepal. Alisha is now working together with our generous material sponsor, Geberit, to import materials directly to Surkhet (the “capital of West Nepal”), where we plan to operate a second warehouse so we can carry out our projects there more reliably starting next year.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our donors and our main sponsor, Geberit AG.
